Arrest Made Over Collins Murder

A 25-year-old man has been arrested in Limerick and is being questioned in connection with the murder of Roy Collins.

The man, who is from the south-side of Limerick, was arrested around 9am in the Meelick area of Co Clare.

He is being detained at Roxboro Garda Station.

34-year-old Mr Collins was shot dead on 9 April last as he worked in the family bar in Roxboro.

One man has already been charged with his murder and is in custody awaiting trial.

Earlier this month, the father of the gangland victim was among those honoured for their outstanding contribution to Ireland and Irish life during the past 12 months.

Steve Collins was recognised at the People of the Year Awards for his "refusal to give in to gangs and his campaign to reclaim the streets from criminality" since his son was gunned down in Limerick.

The Collins family have received numerous threats from one of the country's most notorious gangs after they refused to stay quiet about Roy's murder.
