Fatal Road Crash Blights Cork
A woman in her 30s has died in a road accident in Co Cork.
The crash occurred when a car and a truck collided on the N72 in the town land of Kilconway on the Mallow side of Castletownroche village.
The victim died at the scene and her body has been removed to Cork University Hospital. A six-year-old girl who was traveling with the woman was unhurt in the collision and has been removed to Cork University hospital for precautionary reasons.
A male who was driving the truck was unhurt and has been taken to Mallow Hospital suffering from shock.
Gardai at Mallow are investigating a fatal road collision, which occurred at 9.30am this morning.
The road was closed as it was attended by forensic collision investigators.
Diversions are in place, witnesses are asked to contact the Gardai in Mallow on 022 31450 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
A spokesman from AA Roadwatch said: The Mallow to Fermoy Road is closed between Oliver's Cross and Killavullen following a serious crash near the Nano Nagle Centre at Ballygriffin. Motorists are being diverted via Mitchelstown. This diversion will add a considerable amount of time to your journey."
