Man Killed In Limerick Collision
A man has died following a fatal road traffic collision yesterday evening.
The crash occurred at Ahabeg, Ballysimon, Limerick on the N24, at about 8.15pm.
A 53-year-man was pronounced dead at the Mid-Western Regional Hospital following the collision. The man was the driver of a car, which was involved in a collision with an SUV. A female passenger in the car was also taken to hospital - her injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
The occupants of the SUV fled the scene of the collision.
Two men in their 40’s are detained at Roxboro Road Garda Station in relation to the incident. One is detained under the Criminal Justice Act and the other under the Offences Against the State Act.
The roadway at the scene of the crash has re-opened, following the examination of the area by forensic collision investigators.
Meanwhile, gardaí have named the male who was fatally injured in the Road Traffic Collision on Alymer Road, Newcastle, Dublin on Saturday. He was Brendan Healy, 21, from Croftwood Crescent, Ballyfermot, Dublin.
Gardaí have also named the male who was fatally injured in the road traffic collision at Moycullen Road also on Saturday. He was David Kelly, 39, from Sean Bothar, Monument Road, Galway.

A number of separate road crashes this weekend have claimed four lives, including a father and son. John Gallagher, 55, and his 24-year-old son Sean died when their car collided with another vehicle at Burt on Saturday morning. Four Men Dead In Separate Collisions
A total of four men have died in a spate of separate car collisions over the weekend. In the most recent incident, a motorcyclist collided with a pick-up truck towing a trailer, resulting in the death of the motorcyclist, a man in his late 20s. The collision which occurred at Cloghnadromin, Ballysimon, CoLimerick at approx 1.30pm on Sunday.

Appeal For Witnesses Following Fatal Road Accident
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses following a fatal road traffic accident in County Waterford on Wednesday, 09 September. A man in his 50s was seriously injured when his motorcycle hit a wall on the R448, near Waterford City, at about 17:15. He was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Waterford where he was pronounced dead.

Two Dead In Separate Collisions
Two people have died on Ireland's roads after traffic collisions in Dublin and Kilkenny in the last two days. In the latest incident, a male aged 19 was fatally injured when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a stationary vehicle. His body was taken to Tallaght Hospital.
