Murder Inquiry Follows Dublin Attack
A murder investigation has been launched after a 22-year-old man died in hospital as a result of an attack over the weekend.
Gardaí in Clontarf, Dublin, have begun the now murder inquiry after Barry Walsh who was from Castleknock was chased and beaten in the early hours of Sunday morning at Marino Mart.
He had been at the Barcode nightclub and was attacked after a row broke out. He suffered brain damage and died in Beaumont Hospital yesterday afternoon.
Gardaí have issued a description of a man they wish to speak to in connection with the incident.
He is described as approximately 22 years old, 1.78m (5'10") in height, with dark hair and tanned skin.
Gardaí also believe that those who can help them may be from the Castleknock area.
An appeal for witness was launched yesterday over the murder, which occurred in Fairview Dublin, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
During the incident, a 22-year-old man was viciously beaten in Fairview opposite Marino Mart, at approximately 3.30am.
Garda sources said the victim sustained kicks and punches to the head and body. Detectives do not believe any weapons were used and were working on the theory that the attack was opportunistic.
Gardaí are searching in particular for patrons who were at Barcode Night Club on Saturday night and they are urged to contact investigating officers. An Incident Room has been set up at Clontarf Garda Station - contact: 01 6664800.
They have also appealed for any taxi drivers who may have witnessed the attack or driven people from the area to contact them.
Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have information is asked to contact Clontarf Garda Station, the Garda Confidential Line 1-800-666-111 or any Garda Station.
