Witness To Sexual Assault Caught On CCTV
A fresh appeal for a possible witness to a serious sexual assault in Ranelagh has been launched.
Gardaí from Donnybrook who are investigating the attack on a female, which occurred last year on Thursday October 26, are again appealing to the public for assistance in identifying a male who they feel may be able to assist them with their investigation.
The assault took place in Elmpark in Ranelagh at approximately 2.30am on the night in question. The female had been walking from South King Street in the city centre to Ranelagh where the violent assault took place.
Gardaí have released a CCTV picture of the individual and are asking members of the public who know the male, or who may know of his whereabouts, to contact Gardaí at Donnybrook 01 666 9200, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
Speaking in Donnybrook Garda station today, Superintendent Finbarr O'Brien said: “We are very keen to speak with this a man. We have made exhaustive enquiries to date in relation to this very serious sexual assault but have failed to identify this witness.
"The investigation team here in Donnybrook would be very grateful for any assistance the community can provide. This incident occurred a year ago on the 26th October 2008. The images of this man are on the homepage of the Garda web site and are of a very good quality - someone out there must know him“.
