Separate Shootings Probed
Two men have been taken to hospital for treatment after being shot in the legs in separate gun attacks in Northern Ireland.
A 23-year-old man was shot after five men wearing scarves entered his house in the Iniscarn Crescent area of the Creggan estate, Derry around 10pm on Tuesday.
Then, a 24-year-old man was shot by a masked gang about an hour later at his home on the Rossnareen Road in west Belfast.
Appealing for information, police said neither man's injuries were thought to be life-threatening.
The Londonderry shooting saw a bullet going through the ceiling of the man's home and ricocheted off a radiator.
The 23-year-old's wounds include a fractured femur and he is due to undergo an operation on Wednesday.
Local residents are blaming the attack on a group known as Republican Action Against Drugs, which has been blamed for 12 similar attacks in the city in the past year.
Sinn Féin Councillor Patricia Logue said: "This has not worked in the past and it certainly won't work in the future.
"The people of Derry no longer want their social problems dealt with in this manner."
An SDLP Councillor Tim Attwood, said of the Belfast attack: "Criminal or dissident groups have no right to take the law into their own hands.
"Nobody in west Belfast wants to go back to the dark days of vigilantism."
