Teenage Girl Dies In Tragic Cavan Crash

A teenage woman has died in a tragic road collision in Co Cavan last night.

Gardaí at Coothill are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at approximately 10.30pm on Tuesday night on the R188 at Corravahan, Drung, Coothill, Cavan.

Gardaí say two cars involved in the collision.

Both cars were travelling in the same direction going from Coothill to Cavan.

One of the cars had one occupant and the other had three.

Following a collision on the road, all four people were taken to Cavan General Hospital where the 19-year-old female back seat passenger of one of the cars later died.

The road remains closed at present pending a forensic collision investigation while southbound diversions are via Stradone and northbound diversions are via Ballyhaise.

AA Roadwatch has today advised of treacherous conditions around the state, with very wet and showery conditions around many parts of Munster and Connaught.

Drivers are advised to slow down and keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front.

Gardai in Bailieboro investigating a fatal collision on the Tuesday in Cootehill have named the deceased as Nicola Roberts, 19-years-old, from Ballinagh, County Cavan. Gardai at Coothill are still investigating the fatal crash that occurred at approximately 10.30pm on Tuesday night on the R188 at Corravahan, Drung, Coothill, Cavan.

Further Road Tragedies Blight Ireland
The PSNI have appealed for information after a man died in a two-car collision in Londonderry. A black Skoda Octavia and black Ford Puma were involved in the incident, which was reported to police around 6.45pm on Tuesday. The collision happened on the Culmore road at the junction with the Springfield road near Derry.

Woman Dies In Cavan Road Traffic Collision
A 48-year-old woman has died and two others have been injured in a two-vehicle collision in Co Cavan. The accident happened at around 8.45am, 3km north of Cavan town. It is understood the dead woman was the driver of one of the cars involved in the crash. The driver and passenger of the other car – two women – both received serious injures.

Four Killed On Irish Roads This Weekend
A number of separate road crashes this weekend have claimed four lives, including a father and son. John Gallagher, 55, and his 24-year-old son Sean died when their car collided with another vehicle at Burt on Saturday morning. The collision occurred at the junction of Slab Road, Burt, on the Main Letterkenny to Derry Road at approximately 10.
