Baby's Rush Hour Arrival Halts Traffic
A baby was in a big hurry to see the light of day earlier this week.
An off-duty ambulance driver helped to deliver an infant boy near Blanchardstown during the height of the rush hour in Dublin on Wednesday evening.
The mother, who is from Clonsilla, was being driven to Holles Street Hospital when she went into labour.
The emergency services were called and an off-duty ambulance driver, who was stuck in traffic, went to the woman's aid.
Together with Gardaí and other ambulance personnel he delivered a healthy baby boy.
The mother and child were then brought to Holles Street where they are said to be doing well.
However, the incident led to lengthy delays to traffic in the vicinity.

Minister Varadkar has responded to the recently published HIQA report. The report involved a major review of the emergency ambulance service and was critical in a number of areas. In some control centres, staffing levels were found to be 'unsafe', while the fleet is ageing.

Bridge Fails To Navigate Troubled Water
Bad weather has held back plans to bring the Samuel Beckett Bridge on the latest stage of its journey. The advanced Bridge, which will span the Liffey will now be delayed after an abandoned attempt to ferry the Bridge to its mount at 2am this morning because of high winds. A fresh attempt will be made at high tide tomorrow morning.

Samuel Beckett Bridge Arrives In Dublin
The River Liffey's new bridge is to arrive in Dublin Port after its week-long journey from the Netherlands. The new bridge, which is due to be operational next year will link from Guild Street on the north quays to Sir John Rogerson's Quay on the south.
