Baby Taken From Scene After Assault
Two men are in custody following an overnight incident at a house in Pearse Terrace, Westport, and County Mayo.
Gardai were called to the house shortly after 2.30am last night and after "incidents of public order and assault" at the house, a couple in their late teens and their two-month-old male child where taken from the scene to Mayo General Hospital and transferred to University College Hospital in Galway.
The female has a serious facial injury and the male and baby where taken to hospital as a precaution. Another woman in her early 20s was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
There were six adults and three children in the house at the time. Two males in their late teens were arrested and have been detained under the Criminal Justice Act at Westport Garda station.
A Gardai spokesman said the HSE have been notified regarding the incident.
The incident is currently under investigation.

Three Die In Separate House Fires
Two men and a woman have died in three separate house fires in Limerick and Kerry. In the latest incident, a man in his 60s died following a house fire in Tralee in Co Kerry. The fire broke out in the terraced house in Connolly Park at about 9.30pm yesterday. Gardaí were called to the scene at around 9.

Two Charged Over Alvor Killing
A teenager and another male have appeared in court in Portugal charged in connection with the death of a Londonderry businessman in the Algarve earlier this month. The accused, aged 19 and 26 and from Brazil, were charged with homicide and robbery. The 26-year-old was remanded in custody while the 19-year-old was placed under partial house arrest.

Man To Appear In Court Over Co Meath Burglary
A 38-year-old man is due to appear at Navan District Court charged in connection with a burglary in Ashbourne, Co Meath. It is understood that a homeowner returning to her house saw an unknown male inside her property at around 4:30pm on Saturday, 22 January. She immediately left the area and contacted Garda.
