Appeal Follows Clare Aggravated Burglary

Gardai have this morning launched an appeal for witnesses into an aggravated burglary at a house in County Clare last night.

During the incident, which occurred in Ardkyle, Sixmilebridge, at 10.45pm on Thursday, a man armed with what is believed to have been a shotgun and wearing a balaclava entered a home of a woman in her 50s.

Also present in the house were the householder's two sons aged 14 and 10 years. The raider threatened the family and demanded cash. No cash was taken, however a laptop and two mobile phones were stolen during the incident. The raider made his escape on foot and is described as tall and well built. The scene is been preserved for technical examination which will be carried out today.

Gardai are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious between 10.00pm and midnight in the Ardkyle, Sixmilebridge area to contact them. The townland of Ardkyle is located just off the N18 on a side road off the main Sixmilebridge/Shannon road. Anyone with information in respect of this is asked to contact the Gardai at Shannon on 061 365900.

Gardai Investigate After Man Is Shot
Gardai are carrying out an investigation after a man was shot in the leg and arm in Dublin. The incident occurred at around 6.30pm in Palmerstown Park in Ronanstown. The victim, 26, was taken to Connolly Hospital and his condition is not believed to be life threatening.

Gardai Appeal For Witnesses Following M4 Incident
Gardaí at Mullingar are investigating an incident which occurred on the M4, one km from Kinnegad on the eastbound lane at approximately 4pm yesterday, Monday 24th June. It appears from initial investigations that a car, believed to be a dark coloured Opel Zafira, caught fire. A man believed to be in his early 50s was found deceased in the car.

Gardai Appeal For Witnesses After Stabbing Incident In Dublin
Gardai are investigating a stabbing incident in a bar in Dolphin's Barn, Dublin. A 22-year-old man was stabbed a number of times by another man at approximately 11.45pm last night. The attacker escaped from the scene. The victims injuries are not believed to be life threatening. Gardai are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.

Gardaí Drug Bust Scoops €5m
A Gardaí operation in Dublin has turned up a major drug find resulting in arrests and the seizure of a heroin stash worth almost €5 million. According to a Gardaí spokesman, an ongoing operation targeting illegal drug activity in the South Dublin area led officers from the National Support Services to stop a van in the Templeogue area.

Appeal Over Armed Robbery At Shopping Centre
An appeal has been launched after the robbery of a shopping centre in Dublin on Thursday. The armed robbery took place in Donaghmeade Shopping Centre on a Cash in Transit van. The robbery occurred at approx 10.15am as the Cash in Transit employees were delivering cash to an ATM at the Shopping Centre.
