Carlow Hit With Heavy Flooding
County Carlow has ground to a halt today after at least five of its roads became impassable this morning following heavy rain at the weekend.
Carlow County Council said roads around Mount Leinster, Ballymurphy, Hacketstown and Clonmore are the worst affected.
In Tullow, where the River Slaney burst its banks, householders and businesses are assessing the damage caused by Saturday's flooding while in Enniscorthy up to 15 businesses have been affected by flooding.
AA Road Watch also today revealed that Gardai in Wicklow are advising motorists to continue to avoid the Sally Gap due to the conditions. However, the Wicklow Gap is passable following the recent thaw.
In their latest outlook today Met Eireann said they believed the worst of the winter was behind us.
"The weather will remain changeable and unsettled for the rest of the week and over the coming weekend. While there will be some frost from time to time, it won't be exceptionally cold at any stage," the outlook said.
