Gardai have launched an investigation in the harrowing discovery of the body of what is believed to be a full term baby boy in a house in a village near Westport yesterday.

Gardai in Balbriggan investigating the circumstances surrounding the death, which is believed to have occurred during a party at the address, arrested the male and female who both in their mid 20s, in Navan last week.
Family members took the infant to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where he died despite intensive efforts to save him.
Forensic experts examined the house for several days and all those attending the party in the house at the time have been interviewed by the gardaí.
