Roads Claim Latest Victim

A young woman - aged just 19 - has been killed in road collision in Co Tipperary.

The victim was the sole occupant of a car when it collided with another vehicle on the Cahir to Clonmel Road at Rathmore shortly before 8am this morning.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was later taken to South Tipperary General Hospital in Clonmel.

A man, 38, who was driving the second vehicle, received minor injuries in the collision. The road was closed for a time to allow for a forensic examination of the crash site.

Witnesses are asked to contact the gardaí in Cahir on 052 7445630 or the Garda Confidential line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

Appeal Issued For Missing Tipperary Man
Gardaí have appealed for help in tracing missing Tipperary man John Esmonde. The 38-year-old has been missing since around 22:00 on Wednesday 11 March. When last seen he was wearing a dark jacket, blue denim trousers and a black woollen hat. He is believed to have been carrying a brown shopping bag.

Three Young Males Killed In Separate Crashes
Ireland's roads have been a theatre of tragedy for three young men this weekend, after a string of fatalities. In the most recent incident, a man aged 27 was fatally injured when the SUV and trailer he was driving crashed at Shangort, Partry, Castlebar. There was no other vehicle involved in the crash.

Arrest As Guns Seized In Co Monaghan
Gardaí have arrested one man and seized four firearms in Co Monaghan. The Roads Policing Unit discovered the guns when a vehicle was stopped during speed checks on the N2. A roadside drugs test was carried out on the driver before a follow-up search of the car uncovered four loaded pistols and ammunition.

Three In Court Following Tipperary Attack
Three of the five men arrested in relation to the shooting and stabbing of two men in Tipperary yesterday are appearing in Roscrea District Court this Thursday morning. The other two men were released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions regarding their detentions.

Woman Arrested In Connection With Bobby Ryan Murder
A woman has been arrested in connection with the murder of Bobby Ryan. Mr Ryan's body was discovered at Fawnagowan in County Tipperary on 30 April last year. The 45-year-old is being detained at Tipperary town Garda Station under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
