Poll Boosts Fianna Fáil Hopes
An authoritative Irish Times survey has today shown a small rise in support for the Government as a whole - and in Brian Cowen's personal satisfaction levels too.
Fianna Fáil have recovered some ground but remains in third place behind Labour and Fine Gael, according to the first opinion poll of 2010.
THE IPSOS/MRBI poll shows Fine Gael maintain its support and go up one point to 32%.
Labour stays in second place, dropping a point to 24%.
Fianna Fáil is on 22% - up 2% from the last comparable poll in September last year.
The Greens and Sinn Féin lost a point each to fall to 3% and 8% respectively, with others unchanged on 11%.
Support for the Government has gone up 5% to 19% - but three out of four voters still remain unhappy with the job the Coalition is doing.
The fact that Brian Cowen's personal satisfaction has recovered some ground will be a boost to the Irish premier - up 3% to 26%, but is seen against increases too for John Gormley, Gerry Adams and Eamon Gilmore - who remains the country's most popular political leader.
