Hear! Hear! RTÉ's Subtitling Renewed
A London-based provider of content management services to broadcasters has had its subtitling contract with RTÉ extended for a further two years.
The company, itfc has provided subtitling for news and sports coverage on RTÉ’s two channels RTÉ One and RTÉ Two since 2001.
Isabel Charleton, Head of Access Services, RTÉ said: "RTÉ and itfc have built up a very good relationship in the provision of access services on television.
"This relationship is further endorsed by the deaf and hard of hearing viewers who are delighted with the frequency and quality of the subtitles provided on news, weather and sport over both RTÉ One and RTÉ Two by itfc. RTÉ were very happy to extend this contract," she said.
The company provides live subtitling on RTÉ One’s live news programmes which are transmitted three times a day and live sports shows on both channels including Gaelic football and hurling.
The new contract also includes live subtitling for Six Nations Rugby and coverage of the 2010 Football World Cup.
"We're delighted that RTÉ has decided to continue using our subtitling services and to extend their contract to include more live sports coverage," said Chris Higgs, Managing Director, itfc.
"We think it's great that RTÉ are making more key sporting events accessible to the deaf and hard of hearing."
