Two Arrested After Kildare Drug Haul

Two men are being held after quantity of hard drugs was seized during an operation in Newbridge, Co Kildare this morning.

Gardaí have revealed the operation took place at approximately 6.30am this morning in Newbridge when a truck was stopped and searched. The operation involved the Organised Crime Unit, the Garda National Drugs Unit, and Revenue Customs Services.

Two kilos of cocaine with an estimated street value of €140,000, and one kilo of heroin believed to be worth €150,000 were seized. During the initial operation a male aged 32 was arrested and is being held in Newbridge Garda station.

Gardaí said that in a follow up search a 30-year-old male was arrested in a house in Donaghmede, Dublin and is being held in Coolock Garda station.

Both males are being held under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act 1996, and can be held for up to seven days.

Two Held Following Drug Seizure
Two men are being held following the discovery of cannabis and amphetamines worth an estimated €140,000. Some €20,000 worth of cannabis and €120,000 of amphetamines were uncovered when a car was stopped and searched in Waterford. Gardaí say the search was part of an ongoing operation.

Alleged Sex Boss Held
The gardaí in north Cork have arrested a man as part of an investigation into organised prostitution. The 51-year-old was detained by detectives from the Criminal Assets Bureau at around 7.30am on Thursday morning, during a raid carried out as part of an on-going investigation, dubbed Operation Boulder.

Man Held As Operation Uncovers €1.4m Drug Factory
A Dublin drug-dealing gang has been 'dismantled' by garda following the discovery of a drug-mixing factory in the city. Garda say the find was the result of an intelligence operation launched by the Garda National Drugs Unit, which targeted a drug dealing gang operating in west Dublin and Kildare.

Man Arrested After Holding Staff Members Hostage
A man, who is believed to have been armed, held four members of staff at a pharmacy in Ladywells, Cashel, Co. Tipperary. Gardai, who were alerted to the incident, used a taser gun to arrest the suspect, at around 12.20pm today. An imitation firearm was discovered following the incident. The suspect did not sustain any injuries.
