Dundalk Shooting Man Dies
The Irish police are keeping an open mind about a motive behind the death of a man in his 40s following a shooting in Dundalk, Co Louth, at the weekend.
The victim was visiting a house in Saltown when two men burst into the house just before 7pm on Sunday and shot him at least once.
He was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where he later died from his injuries.
The dead man had republican paramilitary connections, it has been alleged and the Gardaí said they believed the attackers may have used a white Toyota Corolla hatchback car in their escape and are seeking information.
Gardai are particularly interested in the occupants of a white hatchback car possibly a Toyota Corolla or a Nissan Almera which was seen nearby around the time of the shooting.
They believe that up to three men were involved in the incident. Two entered the house and the third waited in the white hatchback.
The men who entered the house were described a tall and wearing dark coloured hooded tops.
When they left the house they jumped the back wall into the garden of another house and exited at the front of the houses.
They then jumped a stone wall on the Bellewsbridge Road, where the white car was waiting. This car then drove in the direction of the Fatima/Toberona Estate.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Dundalk Garda Station on 042 9388400 or the Garda Confidential line 1800 666 111.
