Missing Girl Sought

Police in the border city of Newry have reissued their appeal for information on the whereabouts of missing 16-year-old female, Li Shu who has been missing from the Slievenagarragh area of Hilltown since Monday 22nd February.

The Irish police have also been alerted to the case and are thought to be actively looking for the missing teenager in their own durictiction.

She was last seen on the Castlewellan Road area of Hilltown at around 2.20pm on that date. She is described as having has long black hair and wears glasses with glitter on the sides. When last seen she was wearing a black bomber jacket, blue jeans, white trainers and was carrying a large maroon coloured handbag.

Li speaks little English and police are now very concerned for her safety. Anyone who knows of her current whereabouts, or anyone who had contact with her prior to her disappearance, is asked to contact police in Newry on 04890 650222.

Meanwhile, the North's police are refusing to comment on reports that a man remained at large last night after going on the run during a home leave visit from Maghaberry prison. Convicted killer, Daniel Martin Peter Hargan was one of three people involved in the violent death of Edward Kelly in Bangor in June 2006.

The Prison Service said Hargan, 51, who was due to be released from Maghaberry Prison in May, failed to return.

Call For Assistance To Families On Missing
Ireland's law reform body has called for the plan to see the families of missing people to receive financial help with paying their bills. The Law Reform Commission (LRC) on Monday published its Consultation Paper on Civil Law Aspects of Missing Persons making 18 detailed provisional recommendations for reform of the law.

Catherine Gowing Murder Accused Remanded Until January
A man accused of murdering missing Offaly woman Catherine Gowing has appeared at Caernarfon Crown Court in Wales by video link from Altcourse prison in Liverpool. 46-year-old Clive Sharp spoke just to confirm his name and that he understood the proceedings. The case was adjourned until 7 January 2013, when Mr Sharp will be asked to enter a plea.

Three More Prisoner Escape Co Cavan Open Prison
Three more inmates escaped from Loughan House open prison in Co Cavan, the same prison that convicted garda killer Martin McDermott walked out of in March of this year. The alarm was raised around 18:30 last night when the inmates were discovered missing and they were recaptured a short time later.
