Gardaí said this morning that the driver of the lorry has been taken to Mullingar Hospital with what are believed to be serious injuries.

Officers in Mullingar are currently at the scene of the five vehicle collision, which occurred on the Westbound lane of the N4 near Junction 11 – the Longford side of the Castlepollard exit.

The N4 is now closed and traffic is being diverted along the old Longford Road out of Mullingar.
