Appeal Launched For Taxi Driver Witness

An appeal has been launched to trace a taxi driver who may have key information into the circumstances surrounding a murder in County Cork.

Gardaí in Gurranabraher investigating the murder of Lee McCarthy, who died on 17th April, this year say they are appealing to a taxi driver, who collected three males on the Lower Glanmire Road at St Patrick’s Church to contact them.

The pick up was made at approximately 4am on the day of the murder.

Gardaí discovered the body of Lee McCarthy (25) at a house on St Rita's Avenue in Gurranabraher at around 6.40am after receiving a call from a householder in the area.

The body was found with multiple stab wounds in a shed at the back of the house.

Mr McCarthy who had been living in Cork for the past four years and whose mother and brother live in Kinsale was originally from London.

Gardaí say the three males were brought to the vicinity of St Rita’s Avenue.

Two Gardaí Officers Secure International Honour
Two Gardaí officers have been honoured by Spanish police for their work helping tackle organised crime in Spain. Detective Superintendent Seamus Boland of the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) within Special Crime Operations and a Garda Liaison Officer visited Mallorca to receive the honour by the Guardia Civil.

Missing 25-Year-Old Man Found 'Safe And Well'
A 25-year-old man who was missing from Harcourt Street in Dublin has been found safe and well, Gardaí have reported. Simon Quinn was reported missing after last being seen at around 2.30am on Monday, 30 July. However, Mr Quinn has now been found and Gardaí said they wish to thank the media and public for their assistance.

Cocaine And Cannabis Seized In Co Kildare
Cocaine and cannabis herb worth an estimated €34,000 has been seized in Moone, Co Kildare. As part of a planned search of a premises at Lower Belan, garda uncovered €14,000 worth of cocaine and €20,000 worth of cannabis, shortly before midnight on Sunday, 12 June.
