Galway Bomb Alert Underway

The army bomb disposal unit has been called after a security alert at Galway Garda Station.

It's understood a suspect package was discovered at the Millstreet building around 9am this morning.

Officers have cleared both the police station and the nearby car park which has now been closed awaiting the arrival of bomb experts.

Back in February last year, the same Garda station was evacuated after the discovery of a suspect bomb.

The Mill Street Garda Station was hastily cleared after officers searching two prisoners discovered what appeared to be a pipe bomb shortly and closed off the entire street because of concerns about the device.
