Mystery As Body Found In Ditch
A murder probe looks increasingly likely as Gardaí investigations into the discovery of a man's body in a field just off the N2 in Co Meath yesterday continue today.
The discovery was made at Rathfeigh, between Kilmoon Cross and Duleek, by a man out walking.
He saw the partially clothed remains at the bottom of a drainage ditch at the edge of a field close to the main Dublin to Derry road.
It is likely the remains were in the ditch for several months.
Gardaí investigating the disappearance of Dublin teenager Daniel McAnaspie earlier this year have been informed about the discovery.
The area was quickly sealed-off and the remains were removed to a Dublin hospital following a preliminary examination.
A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out this morning by the Deputy State Pathologist.
Depending on the outcome, it is expected this will formally become a murder investigation later today.
Back in January, a gang-related murder victim John Paul Joyce's frozen body was found in a ditch at the back of Dublin Airport.
He had been shot dead and was a key figure in a major cocaine and cannabis trafficking gang, which had been involved in a deadly feud with a rival outfit.
His death, the first gangland murder of the year, was the third involving the feuding parties.
