Man Jailed Over Assault On Murdered Poles

A 21-year-old man has been jailed for four years for kicking a Polish man as he lay dying on the ground outside his Dublin home.

Sean Keogh, of Vincent Street West in Inchicore was found not guilty of murdering Pawel Kalite and Marius Szwajkos outside their Drimnagh home in February 2008 but pleaded guilty to assaulting Mr. Kalite causing him harm.

During his sentencing at the Central Criminal Court hearing, prosecution counsel told the court they believed the crime was at the very top of the scale, given the circumstances.

David Curran, 19, is currently serving life after being convicted of the murders of the men, who died after being stabbed in the head with a screwdriver outside a Dublin chipshop.

In jailing Keogh today Mr Justice Liam McKechnie said the attack showed a "deep and sickening sense of personality that society should not be exposed to".
