Second SAS Killing Probe Ordered
The newly appointed Attorney General for Northern Ireland has plunged straight into controversy - by ordering a fresh inquest into the case of the SAS killing of Francis Bradley.
John Larkin has ruled on the case where the 20-year-old man died after he was shot eight times in disputed circumstances by the elite and secretive Army regiment near Toomebridge, Co Londonderry in February 1986.
At the original inquest in Magherafelt in 1987 the two men who fired the fatal shots were not obliged to give evidence.
In 2006, the Sinn Fein weekly paper, An Phoblacht, carried tributes on the 20th anniversary of the IRA man's death.
It read, 'In proud and loving memory of Volunteer Francis Bradley, who was murdered on 18 February 1986' and went on to list a range of republican organisations and individuals who wished to commemorate the death.
