Body 'Thought To Be Missing Man'

A body found in a shallow grave in Limerick yesterday afternoon is thought to be that of a man who went missing last week.

Gardaí from Mayorstone Park, investigating the disappearance of a 25-year-old male who has been missing since last Thursday, sealed off an area of waste ground at Delmedge Demesne yesterday afternoon.

The services of the Garda Technical Bureau were requested and on arrival at scene they conducted a preliminary examination and confirmed the presence of a body. A full examination is expected to take place this morning.

Although Gardaí are yet to formally provide identification of the body or determination of gender, local sources are saying this body is that of Lee Slattery from Ballynanty, who disappeared in suspicious circumstances last week.

The State Pathologist has been informed and a post mortem is expected to be carried out later today.

This morning, a spokesman for Gardaí said: "At this time we are appealing to anyone who may have seen unusual activity in this area, or who have any information to offer in relation to this find, to contact Mayorstone Park incident room on 061 456989."

Gardaí say investigations are continuing and the area remains sealed off.

Information can also be given on the Garda Confidential phone line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
