Body 'Confirmed As Missing Man'
The body found in a shallow grave in Limerick on Monday afternoon has been confirmed as that of Lee Slattery, who went missing last week.
Gardaí from Mayorstone Park, investigating the disappearance of the 25-year-old male, who has been missing since last Thursday, said today that a post mortem confirmed the identity of the body and revealed that he had died as a result of gunshot wounds.
The body was discovered off an area of waste ground at Delmedge Demesne on Monday afternoon leading to the services of the Garda Technical Bureau being requested.
This morning, a Garda spokesman said officers in Limerick were anxious to trace the final movements of Lee, and as such are appealing to members of the public to contact them with any information they may have.
In particular, Gardaí are appealing for anyone who saw or heard anything on late on Thursday night or early Friday morning last week in the Ballynanty or Delmege House areas.
The spokesman also revealed that as part of a search of the wider area, Gardaí had recovered a handgun, which is currently being technically examined.
Gardaí said that any member of the public can contact the investigating team in strictest confidence at the incident room in Mayorstone Garda station (061 456 980), the Garda Confidential line 1800 666 111, or at any Garda station throughout the county.
