Garda Thwarts Post Office Raid

An alert off duty police officer quick reaction has led to two men in their mid 20s being arrested following an armed robbery at a Co Kildare post office.

It happened at Prosperous Post Office this morning with men entering the post office at approximately 9.35am armed with what is believed to have been a sledgehammer and a knife.

A small amount of cash was taken and no one was injured and the men made their escape in a car in the direction of Naas.

As the result of a follow-up operation involving an off-duty member of An Garda Síochána, local officers from Clondalkin and the Garda Air Support both men were arrested on the M7 near Clondalkin.

The two men are currently detained at Naas Garda Station under Section 4 Criminal Justice Act 1984 and investigations are ongoing.

A woman has been arrested in connection with an armed raid at a post office in Co Kerry. The suspect was arrested at around 5.30pm in Killarney on Thursday, 04 August. A sum of cash was stolen from Waterville Post Office at around 11am on Wednesday, 03 August. Two men were arrested in the area after the incident.

Three men arrested in connection with an attempted robbery of a Dublin post office have been released without charge. It is understood three masked suspects armed with knives, a crowbar and other implements entered the building on Leonard's Corner at around 12:30pm yesterday, 03 December.

Garda Seek Four Men Over Armed Post Office Robbery
Gardaí are seeking four men in connection with an armed robbery of a post office in County Kerry. Two men, one carrying a pistol and the other a baseball bat, entered the Tarbet Post Office at about 16:00 on Tuesday and threatened staff while a third man stood blocking the door. There were no customers in the post office at the time.
