Injured Man Arrested After Blast

A man who was taken to hospital with hand injuries after a device exploded in north Belfast at the weekend has been arrested.

The 36-year-old man is being questioned in connection with the pipe bomb attack in Kansas Avenue after residents heard a loud bang at about 1.40am on Sunday morning. The occupants of the house were uninjured and the police are appealing for anyone who was in the area and witnessed the incident, or has information, to contact them.

Meanwhile, there has been a fresh arrest over the Real IRA bomb attack on Palace Barracks in Holywood.

The bomb exploded outside the Army base which houses MI5's Northern Ireland headquarters on 12 April, within minutes of policing and justice powers being devolved from Westminster. Police arrested the 45-year-old man in north Belfast on Monday morning.

Man Arrested Over €400,000 Cannabis Find
Cannabis with an estimated value of €400,000 has been seized in Co Donegal. Members of the Revenue and Gardaí uncovered the drugs during a search at Castlefin on Tuesday. Garda arrested a man in his 30s in connection with the find.

Man Arrested Following Drugs Find
Drugs with an estimated street value of €170,000 have been seized by gardai during a raid on a property in west Dublin. Cocaine and cannabis was found during the raid at a house in Balgaddy. A gun and ammunition were also discovered. A 37-year=old has been arrested and is being detained at Ronanstown Garda Station.

Gardai Investigate Pipe Bomb Incident In Dublin
Gardai are currently investigating a pipe bomb incident in Dublin this morning. The bomb exploded on Apollo way at 12.30am in Coolock. No one was injured in the incident. Gardai are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.

West Belfast Alert Ends
A suspicious object which led to an overnight security alert has been declared a hoax device after Army bomb disposal officers were called to examine it on the Donegall Road close to the Park Centre in west Belfast. The area near the off-slip to the M1 motorway was closed to traffic at about 2am on Wednesday. It has since been re-opened.

A man arrested minutes after Kelly’s murder outside his home in Killester, north Dublin, on Tuesday was still being questioned on Wednesday night.
