Pensioner Critical After Suspected Navan Assault
A 63-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital after a suspected assault in Navan, Co Meath, in the early hours of this morning.
The man, from Athlone, Co Westmeath, was found between parked cars on Academy Street at 12.40am.
He was initially taken to Our Lady's Hospital in Navan before being transferred to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda in Co Louth.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone who saw anything in the Academy Street area after midnight to come forward and contact them.
Investigating Gardaí are appealing to any person who may have witnessed an incident at this location to contact the Incident Room at Navan.
They are particularly anxious to trace the 63 year olds movements prior to the assault. Investigators would also like to speak to a number of people who were in Academy Street at approximately 12.30am this morning.
Officers are asking those with information to contact Navan Garda Station 046-9079930, The Garda Confidential Line 1-800-666-000 or any Garda Station.

He died after he was struck by a truck at Millbrook, Oldcastle, Co Meath at 7.30am. Three Arrested In Irish Model Probe
Three arrests have now been made by gardaí investigating the death of top Irish model, Katy French. A 32-year-old man and a woman, 28, were detained in Co Meath at around 9.00am on Wednesday morning and are being held in Garda stations in Navan and Kells for questioning.

Woman Dies After Being Hit By Car In Dublin
An elderly woman who was hit by a car in Dublin has died in hospital. The incident occurred on the Navan Road at around 8.15am on Sunday, 04 September. The driver of the car was arrested and taken to Finglas Garda Station. He has been released and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Man, 63, Dies After Meath Assault
A 63-year-old man has died in hospital after an assault in County Meath over the weekend. A postmortem is due to be carried out today on the body of the man who is understood to be a bachelor from Athlone. He passed away yesterday afternoon at Beaumont Hospital. He was found unconscious by a taxi driver at around 12.

An investigation has been launched into the death of a man at Navan Garda Station in Co Meath on Thursday night. The 52-year-old, who was arrested yesterday for a public order offence, was found lying on the floor of a cell shortly after 10pm. The man was said to have been in an intoxicated state taken into custody for public order reasons.
