Appeal Over Foley Street Attack

Gardaí at Store Street investigating an assault that occurred on Foley Street, Dublin during May are appealing to the public for assistance.

In particular they are appealing for two taxi drivers working in the area on the night of on Sunday 23 May to come forward.

The incident involved a large number of people on Foley Street which resulted in five people being injured. All were taken to hospital and one person received serious head injuries.

All five were subsequently discharged.

Shortly before 12.30am on the morning in question a taxi driver brought the assault to the attention of Gardaí on patrol.

A Gardaí spokesman said: "We have no further details of this taxi driver apart from the fact that he is an Irish National."

Another taxi driver took one of the injured parties to the Mater Hospital. This injured party was a German National and the taxi driver in question did not charge for the fare.

Three arrests have already been made in relation to the investigation. There have been no charges but Gardaí said investigations are continuing.

The investigating Gardaí are appealing for the taxi drivers to contact Store Street on 01 666 8000, the Garda confidential line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
