Oxegen Kicks Wet Weekend Gig

This afternoon, Ireland's largest music festival, Oxegen will be taking place and around 40,000 fans are expected to make their way to Punchestown racecourse in County Kildare.

One 150 artists will perform over three nights with headliners as diverse as Arcade Fire, Muse, Eminem and Jay Z.

Bands from Northern Ireland include Cashier No 9, Two Door Cinema Club and Joe Echo.

Other names booked to play the 2010 event include Paolo Nutini, Faithless, Stereophonics, David Guetta, Vampire Weekend, John Mayer, Calvin Harris, Newton Faulkner, Gossip, Temper Trap, Empire Of The Sun, Goldfrapp, La Roux, Wolfmother, Rise Against, The Coral and Broken Social Scene.

Meanwhile, the dance line-up includes superstar DJs Armand Van Helden, Steve Angelo, Simian Mobile Disco, Erol Alkan, Steve Aoki and A Trak And Aeroplane.

Irish police are asking fans travelling to the event to use public transport as on site parking is limited and subject to a charge.

Organisers are also advising fans to bring wet weather gear and allow at least three hours travel time to and from Punchestown.

Traffic Diversions On N25 After Chemical Leak
An 'ammonia leak' at a factory has resulted in major traffic diversions on the N25 leading out of New Ross in County Wexford to Waterford. Fire services are at the scene and the road has been closed as a precaution following the incident, which took place at around 7.00am this morning.

Raspberry Foray, As Prince Sued Over Cancellation
