Post Mortem For Sligo Assault Victim
A post mortem examination will be carried out today on the body of a 60-year-old man who died in hospital after being assaulted in Sligo town.
Cyril Moran was assaulted at his home at River Road in the Cartron Point area of Sligo Town on Thursday morning. He was rushed to Sligo General Hospital following the attack in a critical condition, but died yesterday after his condition deteriorated quickly over the weekend.
Gardaí arrested two men following the attack. A 28-year-old man was arrested on Friday night has been released from custody at Ballymoate Garda station. A file is to be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Meanwhile, a 29-year-old man is still being questioned at Manorhamilton Garda Station.
The State Pathologist is expected to conduct a postmortem at Sligo General Hospital today.
It is understood MR Moran had only moved to the Cartron area within the past two years.
Detectives have appealed for anyone with information to come forward and Gardaí have asked anyone with information in connection to the incident or Mr Moran’s last movements to contact the incident room at Sligo Garda station on 071-9157071 or the Garda Confidential Line 1 800 666 111.

Appeal Issued For Witnesses To Co Sligo Road Accident
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to a fatal road accident in Castlebaldwin, Co Sligo. Ballymote garda are investigating a collision involving three vehicles and a pedestrian at about 11:40 on Thursday. A man in his 60's was fatally injured when he was struck by a vehicle as he was working on the roadside.

A pensioner has died in a car crash in County Sligo. The collision, which involved a car and a van, occurred at Lufnadeffa, Ballysadare at around 12.20pm on Wednesday. The driver of the car, a female in her 80s and the van driver are being treated in hospital with serious injures. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them.

Man Killed In Roscommon Road Collision
Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses to a fatal road traffic collision at Ardkern, Roscommon. A man (20) was seriously injured when the car he was travelling in as a passenger left the road and struck a ditch. He was taken to Sligo University Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
