Three Friends Die In Limerick Crash

Three people have died in a tragic road crash on the N21 in Co Limerick.

The men, who are all believed to be friends, died while travelling in a van that was in collision with a car shortly after 9pm at Garryduff on the Newcastle West to Tralee road.

It has been reported the men had spent the day at a popular racing festival and were killed just a short distance from their homes

Two other people in the van survived the crash and four people in the car received minor injuries. The car is believd to have been bringing four Gaelic footballers home to Abbeyfeale at about 9.10pm.

The three men who died have been named as Richard Furey, 37, Tom Murphy, 32, and Thomas Holmes, 32. They were all from Newcastle West in Co Limerick.

The road has now re-opened following a technical examination.

Although investigations are still at an early stage, it is believed the two vehicles collided on a bend where the car careered off the road, struck a ditch and overturned.

An 82-year-old woman has died following a road accident in Donegal. The crash occurred at around 3.50pm on Monday (18 August) at The Ross in Bundoran. 63-Year-Old Dies In Co Limerick Road Crash
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to a fatal road crash in Co Limerick this morning. A 63-year-old man died in a two vehicle collision on the R523 in Athea at around 07:10am on Friday. Another man, understood the be 33, was taken to University Hospital Limerick, his injuries are not thought to be serious.
