All-Ireland Finals Loom

Down GAA fans are making last minute preparations as excitement builds ahead of this weekend's All-Ireland senior football final clash with Cork in Dublin. Tickets are at a premium for the game at Croke Park as Down aim for a sixth Sam Maguire trophy. This will be the first time the two teams have met in the final. For Cork, Sunday's game will represent their third final in four years. They last won the trophy in 1990. Down have reached the final on five other occasions since the first All-Ireland Championship in 1887.

'Baby In Car' Arrest

The police have arrested a male in his 60s following a car being taken with a child still in a seat in Newport Village, Co Tipperary on Thursday. The car was driven away from Newport with a four-month-old boy in the back seat of the car at the time. Gardai immediately put in place an operation which resulted in the recovery of the car and the baby in Nenagh a short time later. The baby was uninjured and reunited with his parents and a man detained.

Irish To Bat In Africa

The Irish cricket team is today on route to troubled Zimbabwe despite concerns from the UK Foreign Office over player safety. The team will play an Intercontinental Cup match and three one-day games. The sport's governing body Cricket Ireland said that it consulted with the Irish and UK governments before sending the team. However some critics believe the tour sends out an inappropriate message given the controversy surrounding President Robert Mugabe's heinous regime.

Den King Is Speaker

Sean Gallagher of Dragon's Den is the guest speaker at an event alongside Frederique Murphy, the success story behind 'Mountain Moving Mindset' at the forthcoming 'Wealth Without Borders for Entrepreneurs' meeting at the K Club in County Kildare on 23rd to 25th September 2010.

Sporting Events 'Free' On Irish TV
Forthcoming free-to-air events in the Irish Republic have been revealed. Dublin Communications Minister Eamon Ryan announced the list of events he proposes to designate as of "major importance to society", thus making them free-to-air for Irish television viewers.
