Irishtown Road Rage Victim Dies

The 49-year-old motorist involved in an alleged road rage incident in Irishtown in Dublin has died from his injuries.

The man was hospitalized after having sustained head injuries in the course of an incident, during which another man beat him over the head with a hurley.

At the time the man was taken to St Vincents Hospital but was subsequently transferred to Beaumont.

He was pronounced dead at Beaumont Hospital yesterday evening and a post-mortem examination is due to take place.

Gardaí said they wished to continue an appeal to any person who witnessed the incident or have any information to contact Irishtown Garda Station on 01 6669600 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666-111. The incident occurred at the junction of Sandymount Road/Newbridge Avenue and Tritonville Road, Sandymount, Dublin 4.

A 20-year-old Dublin man has been charged in connection with the stabbing of Mark Spellman in Sandymount on Saturday morning. Dane Pearse from the Irishtown area of south Dublin has been charged at Dublin District Court with serious assault and possession of a weapon.

Investigation Launched Following Suspicious Fire In Co Offaly
Gardai have launched an investigation following a suspicious fire at a house in Rhode, Co. Offaly on Monday. The incident occurred between 11.30pm on Sunday and 1.50am on Monday. A 24-year-old man sustained serious injuries and has been transferred to St James Hospital where his condition is described as critical.

Man Dies In Stabbing Incident
A 30-year-old has died and a second man has been injured in a stabbing incident in Tullamore, Co Offaly, shortly after 7am this morning. It is believed there had been an argument in a house in the area and a Polish man was killed. The other man's injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Man Killed In Galway Crash
A 39-year-old man was killed in a road crash in Co. Galway on Sunday. The incident happened at Coolaghy in Moycullen around 2:30am. The man died when the car he was driving hit a wall. His body was taken to Galway's University College Hospital.
