Petrol Bombs Thrown At Police In Co Antrim

The police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them after an officer had to be treated for head injuries after being attacked during a routine patrol in the normally quiet rural town of Ballyclare.

The PSNI officer was taken to hospital with head injuries after the car he was in was attacked by a group of masked men in a loyalist estate in the Co Antrim town.

The officer was injured during a routine patrol in a police landrover in the Grange Estate at about 11.30pm on Tuesday night.

The police said that petrol bombs were also thrown and some vehicles were damaged in disturbances in the area.

It appears that the devices were thrown at them by a group of masked men, indicating some level of organisation behind the incidents.
