Two Die On Irish Roads In 24 Hours
Two drivers have been killed on the State's roads in the last 24 hours in two separate accidents.
In the latest incident, Gardaí at Blarney said they are investigating a fatal road collision, which occurred at approximately 9.30am this morning.
It happened on the N20 near the village of Rathduff and involved an articulated truck and a car.
The 41-year-old male driver and sole occupant of the car was taken to Cork University Hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival.
Diversions werre in place along the main Cork to Mallow road and motorists travelling towards Mallow diverted at Bweeng. Those travelling towards Cork were being diverted at Bottle Hill, and Gardaí have asked that motorists should avoid taking this route if possible.
Witnesses to the collision are asked to contact Gardaí at Blarney on 021 4516290.
The collision comes only hours after a 46-year-old female was fatally injured when her car lost control and collided with a ditch in County Kilkenny.
The collision occurred at Kildalton, Piltown in County Kilkenny at approximately 12.10am this morning.
The woman was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was taken to Waterford Regional Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The road between Piltown and Templeorum is currently closed pending completion of an examination by Gardai Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.
Gardai wish to appeal for witnesses to the collision, or anyone who may be able to assist them, to contact Mullinavat Garda Station on 051-898122, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

A number of separate road crashes this weekend have claimed four lives, including a father and son. John Gallagher, 55, and his 24-year-old son Sean died when their car collided with another vehicle at Burt on Saturday morning. The collision occurred at the junction of Slab Road, Burt, on the Main Letterkenny to Derry Road at approximately 10.

Two Dead In Separate Collisions
Two people have died on Ireland's roads after traffic collisions in Dublin and Kilkenny in the last two days. In the latest incident, a male aged 19 was fatally injured when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a stationary vehicle. His body was taken to Tallaght Hospital.

Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses to a serious collision in Co Cork on Tuesday evening. At about 8pm, a man aged in his 40s, died after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car at Lough Beg, Ringaskiddy. The man was pronounced dead at the scene and has since been taken to Cork University Hospital for a post-mortem.
