'Weapon' Seized In Shopping Centre
A man has been arrested in Tallaght in connection with the possession of a replica firearm.
Gardai in Tallaght said the arrest was made by officers responding to a call at approximately 11.30am yesterday morning.
Officers were alerted to suspicious activity outside a premises at Castletymon Shopping Centre, Tallaght, leading to the arrest of a 29-year-old male and the seizure of an imitation firearm.
The male was brought to Tallaght Garda station where he is being detained under he provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 as amended.
Meanwhile, Gardai have also seized cannabis plants following a search of a house at Grangewoood, Rathfarnham, in Dublin 16.
Gardaí said that on Wednesday afternoon, Gardai searched a house in the Grangewood area where they discovered that all four bedrooms of the house were being used to cultivate cannabis plants.
In total, Gardie said they had discovered 529 plants, which subject to analysis may have a street value in excess of €200,000.
The house was empty at the time of the search and no arrests have been made. A technical examination of the house in being carried out and the operation is ongoing.

Three Die In Separate House Fires
Two men and a woman have died in three separate house fires in Limerick and Kerry. In the latest incident, a man in his 60s died following a house fire in Tralee in Co Kerry. The fire broke out in the terraced house in Connolly Park at about 9.30pm yesterday. Gardaí were called to the scene at around 9.

Man Arrested Over Fatal House Fire Released Without Charge
A man arrested in connection with a fatal house fire in Dublin has been released without charge. A 44-year-old man died in the blaze which happened at a property on Oakland's Terrace, Rathgar, at around 3am on Tuesday, 21 August. It is understood the man had escaped from the fire before returning inside and suffered critical injuries.

Woman Arrested Following Cannabis Find
A woman has been arrested after a cannabis growhouse was discovered by gardai in County Carlow. The plants, believed to be worth approximately €250,000, were found during a planned search of a house yesterday. The woman, in her 40's, is being questioned at Carlow garda station.
