Disappeared's Body Found At Beach
The remains of one of the people kidnapped and murdered by the IRA have been located.
The Independent Commission for the Location of Victims' Remains (ICLVR) said this afternoon in a statement that during its search for the body of Peter Wilson, it has found human remains at a site in Waterfoot in Co Antrim.
"The recovery is ongoing and the formal identification process will take some time," said the formal statement issued on by the Northern Ireland Office on behalf of the ICLVR.
The organisation said that the family of Mr Wilson and the PSNI had been informed.
The body is believed to be one of the 'disappeared' Peter Wilson, who 21 when he went missing from his home in the Falls Road area of west Belfast.
Archaeologists and other experts had been examining a beach at Waterfoot in the Glens of Antrim.
Last month, the ICLVR probe was launched following a tip-off, with the Sinn Fein President and life-long republican, Gerry Adams making a point of welcoming news that a search for the remains of Peter Wilson had begun.
Believed to have been murdered and then secretly buried by the IRA in 1973 Peter Wilson had learning difficulties.
The news that the archaeologists and other experts were examining the beach at Waterfoot in the Glens of Antrim was the first time such a search has been undertaken in NI as any other remains that have been recovered were across the border in the Irish Republic.
