Young Sisters And Father Found Dead In Cork
Two young sisters have been found dead in a house in east Cork this morning, while their father was also found dead nearby after a road crash.
A family friend found the girls, who were both under the age of 10, in a house in the Ballycotton area at around 10.30am. The friend contacted gardaí to raise the alarm.
Meanwhile, the girls' father, who was in his 40s, was killed when his car collided with a ditch on the road between Ballycotton and Shanagarry at 9.45am. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Gardaí spokesman described the deaths as tragic, and currently investigating the connection between the deaths.
The office of the state pathologist was contacted this morning by gardaí after a doctor pronounced the children dead at the scene.
The assistant state pathologist, Dr Margaret Bolster, was due at the scene to carry out preliminary examinations. It is expected the bodies will be removed to Cork University Hospital later today.
Gardaí would not reveal this morning where in the house the little girls’ bodies were discovered but said Family members were being contacted this morning.
Two units of the county fire service attended the scene of the collision and officers in Midleton are dealing with both incidents.

Man Shot Dead In Dublin

Gun Recovered In Dublin Murder Case
A gun has been discovered by Gardaí as part of the investigation into the murder of a 29-year-old man in Dublin. The man was shot dead by a gunman who entered a house in Castlelyon Drive in the Newcastle area of the city shortly before 10.30pm on Thursday night. The man was shot in front of his partner in the upstairs bedroom of the house.

A man has been found shot dead at a house in Dublin. The 27-year-old was found with a gunshot wound to his neck at a house in Ashcroft Grove, Blakestown, around 8.30pm on Tuesday. According to reports, a 17-month-old baby was in the house at the time of the shooting.
