Dáil Security Upped Ahead Of Budget

Security at Government buildings has been increased as a number of Budget protests get underway outside.

Several groups have called for demonstrations outside the Dáil today as the Government prepares to announce the details of what is expected to be a savage budget.

Among the proposed protests, left wing political group Érigi have announced a "No to the Blood Budget" protest, calling supporters to assemble at 5.30pm today at the Wolfe Tone Monument in Stephen's Green, Dublin before marching on Leinster House.

The Socialist Party has also called for a similar rally at Government buildings and a number of other socialist groups have called for mass protest.

Authorities are preparing for a day of demonstrations, with several groups, students and community organisations all planning to picket the area.

Security is tight, with crash barriers and crowd control plans in place at Leinster House and also Government Buildings.

A spokesman for the Oireachtas said that there is no problem accessing the complex, and it is business as usual for now.
