Dunleer Crash Victims Named

The woman and son killed in County Louth yesterday after their car collided with a wall have been named.

Leontina Covaci (35 years) and Ezacheal Covaci (9 years) of Rivervale Grove, Dunleer, Co. Louth, died at around 2.30pm along the old M1, south of Castlebellingham.

Gardai investigating the incident said two other children travelling in the car were transferred to Our Lady's Children's Hospital in Crumlin and Temple Street Childrens Hospital. Those children are 11 and four respectively.

The woman's husband, believed to be in his 30s was driving the car and was discharged from hospital yesterday.

The four-year-old is the daughter of the couple, and the 11-year-old girl, who is unrelated to the couple, was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda. The 11-year-old female passenger is believed to be in a critical condition.

Ms Covaci was a front seat passenger in the car at the time.

Garda Forensic Collision Investigators closed the road at the scene of the crash pending an examination of the area. Diversions are in place.

Man Dies In Limerick Collision
A man has died in a crash in Co Limerick. The car veered off the road and hit a ditch at Dromsallagh at around 4.15am on Sunday, 05 June. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. A second man is currently being treated for his injuries at the University Hospital Limerick. The road has been re-opened.

Woman Killed In Kerry Road Crash
Gardaí in Kerry have appealed for witnesses to a fatal road crash in Annascaul on Thursday evening. A 59-year-old woman, who was a passenger in a car, was killed in a collision with another vehicle at about 18:40.

Shots Fired At House In Drogheda
An investigation has been launched into a shooting incident in Drogheda, Co Louth on Thursday night. According to gardaí some fifteen shots were fired at the house in Knockbrack Close at around 21:30 last night. Two women and five children were in the house at the time, with one of the women being grazed by a bullet.
