Heroin In RTÉ Campus
An Irish newspaper has claimed that traces of heroin have been found on the RTÉ campus in Donnybrook.
The Irish Sun newspaper said in a report today the finding was made after one of its reporters took swabs in the toilet of the main canteen yesterday.
Responding to the allegations, RTÉ urged the newspaper to make all the information and materials in its possession available to the Gardaí without delay.
RTÉ noted that the traces as described were found in a part of RTÉ's premises most frequently used by staff and by visitors to RTÉ including the general public.
The national broadcaster said it would await further information and advice and that its security staff would continue to carry out ongoing checks and tests of the RTÉ workplace.
Yesterday, RTÉ came in for further criticism along with An Gardaí Siochána for "turning a blind eye" to drug use amongst public figures such as the late DJ Gerry Ryan, who died from a heart arrhythmia, which was being linked to the well known presenter's use of cocaine in an inquest earlier this year.
