Three Die In Irish Car Crashes
A man in his 50s has died in a car crash in Co Londonderry while two men have been killed in separate car crashes in Counties Louth and Cork over the weekend.
The NI accident happened at Duncastle Road near Newbuidlings at 11am on Sunday with the victim being the front seat passenger in the car, which left the road and struck a wall.
A police spokesman said the driver of the vehicle has been taken to hospital but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
Across the border, a male in his 30s was fatally injured when the car he was driving left the road and collided with a ditch.
Gardaí at Dundalk Co Louth are investigating the collision, which occurred at Philipstown, Hackballscross, Co Louth at approximately 2.45am on Saturday. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
In the most recent incident, Gardai at Kanturk are investigating a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the N72 Mallow to Killarney Road at Ballymaquirk on the Sunday at approximately 6am.
A 19-year-old male who was the sole occupant of the car was fatally injured when the car he was driving left the road. He was also pronounced dead at the scene.
The affected section of the N72 is currently closed and local diversions are in place.
Gardai said they also wish to appeal for witnesses who may have travelled this stretch of the Mallow to Killarney Road near Ballymaquirk between approximately 5.00am and 6am and who may be able to assist with the investigation to contact Kanturn Garda Station on 029 20680, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

The car, believed to be a Ford Focus, has not been found. Gardai believe the car would have been damaged at the front and the windscreen.

A man has died when his car collided with a van on the Rathbeale road in Swords, Dublin, around 02.30am on Wednesday morning. The man in his 40s was a passenger in the van. He died at the scene. The driver of the van and a second passenger are being treated in hospital. Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
