Body Find Leads to Double Tragedy
The discovery of a female in her 20s at a house in Tralee on Tuesday afternoon is being linked to a suspected suicide also in County Kerry.
Gardai in the Tralee said they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the woman, who is believed to have been strangled.
The woman is yet to be formally identified 24-year-old Kataryzna Bartowiak, 24, a Polish national. Her body was found in an upstairs room of the house at 3pm on Tuesday.
Reports this morning in the Irish Independent suggest a two-year-old boy was found nearby and has now been taken into care by the Health Service Executive (HSE).
Gardaí investigating the death said that a search was under way in the sea at Ballybunion for the woman's partner, and it is understood the partner may have committed suicide from the cliffs at the scene.
The partner has been identified as Stephen Goodson-Ukiwo, aged in his 30s, originally from the West African republic of Benin.
The State Pathologist’s office has been informed and the Technical Bureau has also been notified. The body remains at the scene and the scene is currently preserved.
Gardai are appealling to any persons who were in the Deerpark Estate in the last 24 Hours to contact Gardai in Tralee at 066.7102300 or the Garda Confidential Line 1 800 666 111.
