Cork Homes Evacuated After Flood
Around 30 people had to be evacuated from their homes in Cork today after a water main burst in the area of the Fever Hospital Steps.
A total of 14 houses are currently affected.
Cork City Council was notified at 2.48am this morning.
Emergency services responded immediately, with fire crews at the scene within minutes. Water services personnel, the Gardai and the HSE also responded.
Cork City Council has offered emergency alternative accommodation, in the locality, to those affected, and arrangements for this is underway.
Diversions are in place in the area, and the situation is now contained.
At present, water supply is unaffected, as the Council Water Services staff is diverting water to ensure continuous supply in the area. The Council is in the process of assessing the full extent of the damage and repairs are commencing.

Residents of Stoneyford, Co Kilkenny have been warned of temporary water outages due to essential repairs. Kilkenny County Council said that repairs would be carried out from 21:00 on Wednesday, 19 August until 17:00 on Thursday, 20 August. Water supply to the Cherrymount area in Stoneyford will be affected.
