Man Held Over McCarthy Murder
A man has been held overnight for questioning at Ennis garda station in Co Clare in connection with the murder of Deirdre McCarthy.
Ms McCarthy, 43, from Turlough House, Ballyvaughan, was found dead on Fanore Strand last Thursday. She was buried yesterday.
She was last seen at her home on Sunday 27th March 2011 and failed to turn up for work the following morning.
A post mortem examination is being carried out and Gardai are awaiting the results.
The man, in his late 30s, was arrested in Galway city yesterday morning.

Man Admits Manslaughter Of Melanie McCarthy
A man from Dublin has admitted killing Melanie McCarthy, 16, on 8 February last year. Keith Hall, 24, from Tallaght, pleaded not guilty to murder but guilty of manslaughter. Ms McCarthy was shot while she was in a car in Brookview Way. Hall has been remanded in custody and will be sentenced on 31 July.

'Traumatic' Tiger Kidnapping In Tallaght
Two men have been involved in what has been described as a "traumatic" tiger-kidnapping incident in County Dublin. Gardaí in Tallaght have launched an investigation into the incident which involved the false imprisonment and abduction of a male bank official and another man from a house in Deerpark, Kiltipper area in Tallaght.
