Easter Rising Marked In Dublin
A ceremony to mark the 95th Anniversary of the 1916 Easter Rising will take place this Sunday commencing at 12 noon.
The ceremony, taking place outside the GPO, O’Connell Street in Dublin, will be led by the President Mary McAleese, An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, T.D. and the Minister for Justice, Equality and Defence Alan Shatter, T.D.
Defence Forces personnel, including a brass band, a pipe band and representatives of the Army, the Air Corps, the Naval Service and the Defence Reserve will take part in the Ceremony, which will conclude with an Air Corps fly past.
At noon the National Flag will be lowered and the 1916 Proclamation will be read by an Officer from the Defence Forces.
The President will then lay a wreath to commemorate those who died in 1916. A minute silence will be observed.
Following the ceremony Minister Shatter T.D. will host a reception for invited guests, including relatives of the 1916 leaders.
Members of the public are invited to attend and should be in position in the public viewing area outside the GPO by 11.15 a.m. Large video screens will be erected on either side of the GPO to relay the ceremony to the public.

Australian Mayor Pays Tribute To Murder Victim Jill Meagher
The Australian mayor has expressed his condolence to the family of Irish woman Jill Meagher who was murdered in Melbourne last September. Oscar Yildiz arrived in the Republic of Ireland today and is due to attend a commemoration ceremony later this week. Ms Meagher, originally from Drogehda, moved to Australia in 2009 with her husband.

Taoiseach In US For 1916 Commemoration Events
The Taoiseach Enda Kenny will travel to Washington DC today to attend 1916 Commemoration events in the US. The Taoiseach will join with US Vice President Joe Biden, to formally open the Ireland 100 Festival at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
