Arrest Made Over Bank Official Abduction

Gardai in Tallaght investigating the false imprisonment and abduction of a bank official from a house in the Deerpark area in Tallaght have arrested a male in his 30’s.

He was arrested this morning in the Dublin area in relation to the incident.



Around 1.30am on 22 June 2010 a demand was made that the bank official obtain a sum of money from the bank and await instructions. It is believed that up to three men were involved, at least two of whom were believed to be armed. The men took the second male away from the house in Deerpark in the Kiltipper area in Tallaght. 

The bank official operating under duress went to the bank as instructed and on to a specified location where he handed over a of sum money.



The man arrested is due to appear at Court number 2, the Criminal Courts of Justice, Parkgate Street at 10.30am. He is the second person to be charged in relation to the incident.

Man Held In Connection With 'Tiger Robbery'
A male in his 20s has been arrested in Tallaght in connection with a so-called 'tiger kidnapping' incident in Dublin last month. Gardai investigating the false imprisonment and abduction of a bank official on the June 22 made the arrest this morning in relation to the incident.

'Tiger' Robbery Cash Recovered
A substantial amount of the €7 million taken by a gang from a Dublin bank, after they coerced a bank official by kidnapping members of his family, has been recovered. Gardaí found €4m, believed to have come from the country's biggest bank robbery at the weekend.

The Minister for Justice is to hold a special meeting with the Garda Commissioner following the latest 'Tiger' kidnap robbery. Dermot Ahern says he wants to know if procedures need to be changed or improved after a bank official's family were held hostage at their Co Kildare home overnight as part of the incident.

Gardaí Arrest Three 'Tiger Kidnap' Suspects
Three men have been arrested this morning in connection with a tiger-kidnapping incident in Dublin. Gardaí investigating the robbery last night carried out an intelligence led operation, which resulted in the arrest of three males aged 23, 38 and 70-years-old.
