Woman Faces Charges Over Co Down Murder
Following the murder of a man from Ukraine that shocked a fishing port in Co Down at the weekend, the North's police have charged a woman with assisting offenders.
The 32-year-old was due in court today (Friday) charged in connection with the shooting in Kilkeel.
The victim, Dmytro Grytsunov, 29, with the woman charged last night with perverting the course of justice, assisting an offender and withholding information.
She will appear before Newry Magistrates Court this morning, a spokeswoman for the Police Service of Northern Ireland said.
Mr Grytsunov received a fatal chest wound when shots were fired in the Rooney Park area on Saturday night.
Earlier, detectives were granted an extra 36 hours to question a 28-year-old man who was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the incident.
Another woman of 39 has been released unconditionally.
Three men aged 31, 36 and 26 have been released on police bail.
It is believed a dispute between the two groups of foreigners started and a house was attacked at Haywood Way, Kilkeel at 9pm on Saturday.
The trouble then moved to Rooney Park, where at least two shots were fired in the street.
Now, the police also want to question two other men, including Devidas Paliutis who was freed in error from Maghaberry Prison last autumn and has been on the run since.
